HISTORY

About SBSMA

Since 1984, SBSMA has grown to be one of the largest providers of music education programs, reaching thousands of students for all ages, and skill levels.

1984 - South Bay School of Music Arts is founded with 90 students and 6 instructors

SBSMA has grown to 350 students and 13 instructors (2010)

1985 - Student Concert Series is started with 8 recitals per year

1986 - Honors Program started

a competition to showcase the best talent from SBSMA

1988 - Studio Band Projects started

bands & vocal groups performing at art & wine festivals

bands & vocal groups performing at county fairs

bands & vocal groups performing at church festivals

bands & vocal groups performing at Relay For Life

1989 - Jazz Ensembles started

bands performing at county fairs, special events and Santana Row

1990 - Wind Ensemble started

performing in the community twice a year

2007 - Twentieth Anniversary of Studio Band Project

2011 - First Annual Scholarship Program
